Known as “The City of Homes,” The city of Huntington Woods features winding, tree-lined streets and many attractive Tudor-style & Mid-Century modern homes. The Gillham Recreation Center is part of a larger complex which includes the Huntington Woods Library and Cultural Center, Burton Elementary School and Burton Community Park. Without a commercial downtown, the Gillham Recreation Center complex is the “heart” of Huntington Woods. It is conveniently accessible to all residents on foot, bike or automobile. Huntington Woods has many recreational spaces for whatever you're up for, including baseball fields, golf course, skate parks, tennis courts, swimming pool, and numerous pocket parks and play areas. Huntington Woods prides itself on trying to unite the community and provide something for everyone.

The Historic District of Huntington Woods includes many of the majestic Tudor-style homes. The intent of the Historic District is to preserve the integrity of the area's streetscape and to ensure that the unique qualities and characteristics of the individual homes and other resources are retained intact for future generations.

The Huntington Woods is also home to a large section of the Detroit Zoo and Rackham Golf Course which is owned and operated by the City of Detroit.

Fun Fact: In 1821, the Territorial Governor Lewis Cass of Oakland County, concluded a treaty with the indigenous people whereby they ceded the rights of the lands in southern Michigan territory that included the present day City of Huntington Woods.
